Outfielder Scott Hairston and the San Diego Padres have agreed to a $2.45 million, one-year contract to avoid arbitration. Hairston had asked for $2.9 million and the team offered $2.1 million. He made $1.25 million last year. Hairston spent the majority of the last three seasons with the Padres before being traded to Oakland on July 5.

Outfielder Reed Johnson has agreed to an $800,000, one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Johnson spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Cubs after beginning his major league career with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2003. He hit .255 with four homers and 22 RBIs in 65 games for the Cubs last season.
