Outfielder Jeremy Hermida and the Boston Red Sox have avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a non-guaranteed $3,345,000, one-year contract. Phillies C Ruiz inks 3-year, $8.85M deal (AP)
Catcher Carlos Ruiz finalized an $8.85 million, three-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, avoiding salary arbitration. Ruiz hit .255 last season with 26 doubles, a career-high nine home runs and 43 RBIs in 107 games. The Phillies went 57-43 (.570) when Ruiz started. He threw out 15 of 76 potential basestealers (19.7 percent).
Cubs, Nady agree on 1-year, $3.3M deal (AP)
