Dodgers sign free-agent INF Carroll (AP)

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a $3.85 million, two-year contract with free-agent infielder Jamey Carroll. The team said it finalized the deal Friday. Carroll spent the last two seasons with Cleveland in the AL after playing in the NL with Montreal, Washington and Colorado from 2002-07. He hit .276 with 53 RBIs in 93 games last season for the Indians.

Cubs deal Bradley to Mariners for Silva (AP)

There are only two people from whom Milton Bradley has ever wanted to get an autograph. He's about to play with one of them. "Some of the things that happen in your life and as a baseball player are kind of surreal to you. To play with Ken Griffey is one of those," Bradley said of the Mariners star.

LHP Gonzalez, Orioles finalize $12M deal (AP)

The former Atlanta Braves left-hander agreed to a two-year deal with the Orioles.

Mike Gonzalez wants to close games, and the Baltimore Orioles lack an experienced arm to protect ninth-inning leads. Though they aren't handing the veteran left-hander with the herky jerky delivery the closer's job outright, the Orioles are likely to give him a chance after finalizing a $12 million, two-year contract on Friday.

LHP Lopez, Pirates agree to 1-year deal (AP)

Left-hander Javier Lopez agreed Friday to a $775,000, one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 32-year-old was 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA in 38 games last season at Triple-A Pawtucket after going 0-2 with a 9.26 ERA for Boston from the start of the year through May 9. He is 11-7 with four saves and a 4.62 ERA over seven seasons in a major league career that began with Colorado and also included…

Lawsuit against Sosa dismissed (AP)

A lawsuit by a business seeking $203,000 from former baseball star Sammy Sosa has been thrown out by a Dominican Republic prosecutor. Adolfo Feliz said Friday that the suit lacked sufficient evidence. Carim Abu Nabaa alleged that Sosa didn't pay him a commission of $150,000 on a house sale, $43,000 for a luxury watch, and $10,000 for getting Reggaeton singer Don Omar to perform at Sosa's…

Marlins, RHP Nolasco agree on $3.8M deal (AP)

Right-hander Ricky Nolasco and the Florida Marlins have agreed to a $3.8 million, one-year contract, a raise of $1.4 million. Nolasco was 13-9 with a 5.06 ERA last season, down slightly from his 15-8 record in 2008. He missed a large part of 2007 because of elbow inflammation. In four seasons with the Marlins, Nolasco is 40-30 with a 4.43 ERA.

Mariners bring back OF Langerhans (AP)

Outfielder Ryan Langerhans agreed Friday to a $525,000, one-year deal with the Seattle Mariners, just days after he became a free agent when the team failed to offer a 2010 contract. Langerhans was acquired from Washington last June for infielder Mike Morse and hit .235 with six doubles, three homers and 10 RBIs in 101 at-bats 38 games.
