Yankees, Angels try again to play Game 6 (AP)

An hour after Game 6 of the AL championship series was postponed, there was Andy Pettitte in a nearly empty Yankee Stadium, drenched in the pouring rain. With his short hair soaked and sweat shirt dripping, the New York Yankees' pitcher played catch in the outfield and ran light sprints through thick puddles on the warning track before finally grabbing some cover in the dugout.

Mets minor league P Castro dies at 18 (AP)

New York Mets minor league pitcher Rafael Castro has died of an apparent heart attack. He was 18. Castro died Friday at the Mets' academy in Carabobo, Venezuela. The Mets announced his death Saturday. Castro had spent two years with the Mets' team in the Venezuelan Summer League. The right-handed pitcher was from Colombia.

Pedro Martinez stood on the mound in The House That Ruth Built many times during big games, listening to the taunts, jeers and insults from Yankees fans. If New York advances to the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, Martinez would love to get the ball again at Yankee Stadium, the new $1.5 billion version.

Yankee Stadium concrete drawing scrutiny (AP)

The New York Yankees might look rock solid, but the concrete at their new stadium is drawing extra scrutiny amid a probe of construction companies. Concrete ramps at the $1.5 billion ballpark have been troubled by cracks this summer. The New York Times reports that the team is trying to determine whether there was something wrong with the cement, or the installation and design of the ramps.
